Dhankhar Reappears Publicly at Radhakrishnan’s Swearing-In Ceremony
New Delhi: Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar made his first public appearance since his unexpected resignation on July 21, attending the swearing-in ceremony of his successor, CP Radhakrishnan, at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Friday.
Seated alongside former Vice Presidents M Venkaiah Naidu and Hamid Ansari, Dhankhar’s presence drew attention amid ongoing speculation surrounding his early departure over two years before his term was set to end in August 2027. While he officially cited health concerns, political circles continue to buzz with talk of internal tensions and a possible rift with the central government.
The ceremony, administered by President Droupadi Murmu, was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior ministers, and a host of state leaders including N. Chandrababu Naidu, Devendra Fadnavis, Manoj Sinha, Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Nayab Singh Saini. Radhakrishnan, the NDA nominee, secured 452 votes to defeat Opposition candidate and former Supreme Court judge B Sudershan Reddy. His swearing-in marks a new chapter in India’s parliamentary leadership.
