Bhubaneswar:The second-year students of Xavier School of Rural Management (XSRM), Xavier University, Bhubaneswar (XUB) will be going to Thread, Jatni on 7th, 8th and 9th of February, 2020 for a 3-day development training program. The theme for the program is “Strategic Public Communication” (SPC).

The aim of the program is to bridge the gap between rural and urban communities. It tries to identify the institutional voids in the villages and strives to bring in relevant information from various sources for making the day-to-day life and workflow of the villagers easier. This year, over there, the trainers will conduct several sessions that would spread awareness to all communities at large about how the government works and how they can benefit from the plans and programs initiated by them.

The trainers deliver their content in an engaging manner through visual aid and discussion for the impactful learning of the trainees. In this program, the students will evaluate the role that media can play in rural areas. This study is intended to help budding rural managers draw the results of research principles which can serve as guides to more effective program designs.

This program is a part of a course on Development Training taught by Dr. S. Peppin (Dean, XSRM); it will majorly focus on how important Public Relations (PR) is and how they can be improved. The trainees will be made aware of several tools used in PR and the role it plays in their lives. It would majorly focus on the role of media in communication at large and how one shall strategize while addressing the masses for effective communication and positive image building.

The training session will also focus on the evaluation of communication techniques for quality and efficient message dissemination. It is not only concerned with how communication contributes to bringing about change and why; but will also consider different kinds of changes rural development should foster.
