Dearth of doctors in Ramanaguda: Denizens demand to cancel deputation of surgeon

Rayagada (Badal Tah): When a surgeon from Ramnaguda Community Health Center(CHC) in Rayagada district was deputed to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital(DHH), the residents of Ramnaguda met the Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer(CDM&PHO) Prafulla Kumar Padhi and demanded immediate cancellation of that deputation. Rayagada BJP District President Gopi Anand, Ramnaguda District Council Member Tangudu Sridhar, Parikshitee Sarpanch Surya Rao Kumbrika, former BJP District Youth Morcha President Debashish Panda, BJP Gunupur Constituency Coordinator Ashish Kumar Behera, lawyer Saroj Kumar Dash, youth leader Shakti Prasad Patra, Sanjeev Kumar Dash, Sudhir Mishal, Jagan Patra and other dignitaries were present during submission of memorandum to CDM&PHO.

Presently, according to the National Health Mission guidelines, there should be total fifteen doctors in the CHC, including one medical superintendent and four specialist doctors; but dearth of doctors in Ramnaguda CHC is being seen. The people of Ramnaguda Panchayat Samiti is more than 80,000, who depend on the CHC. After repeated requests to the state government, the request of the people of the area was met and a specialist doctor was appointed at the CHC, due to which the poor, innocent tribals of the area not only got better treatment, but also stopped spending their hard-earned money in private hospitals OF Andhra Pradesh.

Currently, there are only five doctors in the CHC out of fifteen sanctioned post. Adding salt to the injury, the only specialist doctor has been deputed to the DHH. As a result of this, the innocent tribals of the area are deprived of good medical treatment. Since he was appointed as the Medical Officer-in-Charge of the CHC, Ramnaguda, he has been providing good medical treatment to the patients and has been fulfilling his responsibilities to the fullest. Now, because of his deputation to the DHH, there has been disruption in the provision of health services and the patients who were receiving treatment under him are returning in despair.

The netizens have also requested a grievance redressal hearing in Ramnaguda to draw special attention to this matter. Later, the residents appraised the abysmal situation of the CHC to Minister Nityanand Ganda while attending the inauguration ceremony of the new building of the CHC, Ramnaguda. The minister Ganda assured the public to resolve the issue. But even after ordering CDM&PHO to take immediate steps in this regard, the CDM&PHO did not pay attention to this matter.

If the lives of the innocent tribals in the villages are neglected and only the interests of the urban headquarters are considered, then the people of Ramnaguda area will soon be forced to protest in front of the DHH, warned residents. They also warned that if the deputation is not cancelled within the next seven days, the market will be shut down and the vehicles in Ramnaguda will not ply, as a token of protest.
