Dacoity gang arrested in Rayagada

RAYAGADA:A gang of accused persons along with others committed dacoity upon one Dayadan Paspu Reddy of Raniguda Farm near Vamsi Krishna Function Hall and snatched away cash of Rs. 1700/- and also assaulted him.
Accused persons namely Trinath Majhi, Ajay Kumar Mohapatro and others committed dacoity in the house of one Jagannath Bindhani, Asst. Deputy Director of Horticulture, Rayagada on three different occasions and snatched away cash Rs. 1.3 Lakhs from him and distributed the money among themselves.
Four accused persons have been arrested so far namely Trinath Majhi (29), S of Raniguda Farm DFO Office 5th lane, Goutam Bidika (27)of Raniguda Farm near Mangala Temple, Ajaya Kumar Mohapatro (28),of Raniguda Farm DFO Office 9th lane and Siku Das (24), of Raniguda Farm DFO Office 4th lane. Cash Rs.10000/- has been seized from them. Further investigation is underway.
In another success Rayagada police also recently arrested two bike lifters in the town and recovered three bikes.
Burglary cases were solved within 24 hours. Twenty five brand new mobile phones worth 4.5 lakhs were recovered. Four accused persons arrested and two juveniles detained.
Two laptops worth one lakh were recovered. Three accused persons including one property receiver got arrested under Muniguda PS.
In another case, two accused persons from Ganjam district came to Rayagada in the month of February, September and October and committed theft/snatched cash of Rs.1, 20,000/- from different places. During investigation the accused persons confessed their guilt and cash Rs.1, 00,000/- was recovered from them & handed back to the owners who lost their money.
Police has been proactive in maintaining rule of law in the district. These actions by Rayagada Police under the leadership of Dr. Saravana Vivek M, IPS, SP are lauded by local denizens.
