Rayagada (Badal Tah): Hit the target where it is most needed. As the school going adolescents and college going youths are increasingly becoming soft targets of cyber fraud, Rayagada police has spearheaded state’s mission in taking up Cyber Safety Campaign, Odisha–2025. According to Rayagada police, such adolescents and youths, who use the digital media extensively, can carry the campaign forward by becoming aware about the fraud and sensitizing their families and society at large as youth ambassadors for cgange.

After the virtual inauguration of the campaign by CM Mohan Majhi, Rayagada administration led by Collector Asutosh Kulkarni & SP Swathy Kumar has taken the process to various schools, colleges and communities in eleven blocks, three urban level bodies and 182 gram panchayats of Rayagada district. Police along with administration dept., & school students joined the live streaming of the Cyber Safety Awareness Campaign–2025, inaugurated by the Hon’ble CM of Odisha. The programme aims to create awareness & help people stay safe & responsible online.

Inaugurated jointly by Collector Asutosh and SP Swathy, a chariot depicting pictorial and audio awareness messages moved to schools, colleges and even to interior pockets of the district. Cyber campaign with cyrra at Tikiri PS area and Diwali celebrations concluded on a positive note with the theme “Stop, Verify, Be secure”.

Interestingly enough, an innovative initiative like a cyber museum at GIET Gunupur was inaugurated by the Collector Rayagada in the presence of the S.P Rayagada, Sub-Collector, Gunupur & other dignitaries. The event focused on cyber awareness & some real case studies. Promo video of cyber safety museum  at GIET university in association with District administration and district police is being set up under leadership and guidance of  Dudhal Abhishek Dilip, IAS, Sub Collector & SDM Gunupur.

Hold on. As if this is not enough, the police has several other programmes in its sack. They have cordially invited the general public to participate in the Walkathon-1 km for Senior Citizens and Women to promote cyber awareness and build a safer online community. They also have invited all to participate in the Road Run-5 Kms. promoting Cyber Awareness. Citizens will be running together with purpose & commitment towards building a safe and responsible digital society.

The police has elicited participation in the Cyber Safety Drawing Competition to express one’s creativity to promote a safer cyberspace. This artwork will inspire others to stay safe online. They have requested to join the Cyber Safety two minutes Reels Competition to use the participants’ creativity to spread awareness about online safety. It will show their acting & directing talent to promote a cyber safe society.

“These initiatives of district police is really commendable. Through this initiative, police has gone a step ahead in becoming pro-people and community friendly. Being child friendly, the model police station of Gunupur has shown the way. At the same time, police has left no stone unturned in the context of cannabis cultivation, ganja trafficking and taken the culprits to task. This multifaceted roles played by police must be sustained”, said Shyam Kumar Dash, a youth leader & Ex-President of Rayagada College Students Union.
