CWC Member Brutally Murdered in Berhampur

Berhampur,12/10/23:Soudamini Rath, a woman member of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Ganjam district was allegedly thrashed to death near her residence at Nilakantha Nagar under Gosaninuagaon police station limits of Berhampur on Wednesday night.
Soudamini was a social worker involved in the rehabilitation of children affected by AIDS.
Saudamini faced the attack just after her return to Berhampur after attending a three-day workshop in Bhubaneswar. While she was speaking to someone on the phone, she was attacked by an unidentified miscreant from behind. He gave a lethal blow to her head and also thrashed her to death on the spot.
Police recovered Soudamini’s body and sent it for postmortem. The reason behind this brutal murder is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, the police have detained the Soudamini’s driver Simanchal Sahu @ Sima, 27 Yrs, for interrogation.
In connection, after extracting all groud zero Investigation by the Inspectors, ASP, SDPO and scientific team. Police reached into a final step of such heinous murder.
In action police arrested one Simanchal Sahu @ Sima, 27 Yrs, S/o-Harihara Sahu of Ankuli, Khala Sahi, PS-B.N.Pur. and Biren @ Biswanath Sahu,25 Yrs, S/o-Hari Sahu of Engineer School, Bidyutpuri Colony, PS-B.N.Pur, Berhampur.
According to a senior Police officer, during marathon interrogation the suspected person turned and confesses their crime .
On 11.10.23 at 11.15 PM, information was received at Gosaninuagaon PS regarding assault to a lady in Nilakantha Nagar 1st lane. On getting this information IIC,Gosaninuagaon & PS staff immediately rushed to the spot and found dead body of Ms. Saudamini Ratha on the 1st floor of the building.
Based on her sister Puspanjali Acharjya report case was registered and investigated, he added.
During investigation it came to light that She had gone to Bhubaneswar on 10.10.23 to attend a meeting with her colleague Lokanatha Mishra, who is the project director of Aruna NGO. She had program to stay at Bhubaneswar for three days which she had informed her driver Sima @ Simanchala Sahu not to come to office for those three days. Sima has been working as a driver for her for 4 months.
Getting this opportunity, driver Sima @ Simanchal Sahu and his friend Biren @ Biswanath Sahu who was his associates in theft cases, planned to commit theft in the house of the deceased. As per their plan they purchased an iron cutter from a shop located at Aska road, Berhampur the same evening.
Meanwhile victim had come to her house one day earlier. Accused Simanchala Sahu managed to get inside the house and he was surprised to find the victim inside her house. Finding no way out he attacked her. Accused Sima @ Simanchal Sahu could not get time to commit theft and went away from there.
After that he called Biren @ Biswanath Sahu and narrated the whole incident to him and asked him to help get away from there in the motorcycle of Biren @ Biswanath Sahu. Both accused persons arrested and being forwarded to court.
Both accused persons are involved around 10 cases under different section at BN Pur Police stations.
Apart from the above cases , Simanchal Sahoo is involved in the following case B.N.Pur Case No.11 dated 07.01.2022 U/S 372(2)(n)/384/506 IPC/ r.w sec 66E/67/67(a) I.T Act & 6 POSCO Act.
