Custodial Death at Jharpada Jail – Campaign against Fabricated Cases (CAFC) demands 50 lakhs Compensation to the Family of UTP

CAMPAIGN AGAINST FABRICATED CASES (CAFC) DEMANDS 5O LAKHS COMPENSATION TO THE FAMILY OF UNDER TRIAL PRISONER RABI DULEY FOR CUSTODIAL DEATH AT JHARPADA JAIL, BHUBANESWAR
Bhubaneswar, Dt 19.01.21: Rabi Duley, an under trial prisoner, who was in jail since the last 12 years unexpectedly died on 16th January at Jharpada Jail of Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He was native of Sanataranga village under Badasaranga Police Station of Bankura district of West Bengal. But police in false and fabricated way registered 9 cases against him as the supporter of Maoists. He was acquitted in 5 cases and due to long judicial process and delayed justice system he was mentally unbalanced. In the meantime he sent petitions to the human right commissions of West Bengal, NHRC and the courts where his trial was continuing to release him and demanded himself as innocent. But nothing happened and lastly he died due to callousness of police system and delayed justice system.
Today, in the presence of deceased wife PratimaDuley, younger brother BholanathDuley, daughter Falguni Duley, son Jay Duley and other relatives his dead body was in quested and post-mortem was done within the Capital Hospital premises and dead body of Rabi was handed over to them by Laxmisagar Police.
In this context NarendraMohanty, Convener and BiswapriyaKanungo, advisor of Campaign Against Fabricated Cases (CAFC), Odisha, social activist and lawyer Pratima Das, NiranjanMohanty, RumitaKundu of Committee for Release of Political Prisoners and Activist Swati Mishra demand the proper inquiry about the death of under trial prisoner Rabi Duley, 50 lakhs compensation to his family and to implement the quick justice delivery system for other prisoners especially for political prisoners.
