CUO, Koraput Faculty interact with Chairman, UGC on NEP 2020.
Koraput (Nishapati Nayak) : The Faculty members of the Central University of Odisha, Koraput interacted with Prof Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, University Grants Commission, New Delhi on the implementation of the National Education Policy on 28 June 2024 at Guwahati, Assam. The interaction was held as a part of the Vice Chancellors’ Conference (Eastern & North Eastern India) organized by the UGC & Pragjyotishpur University, Assam with Nagaland University being the lead coordinator. The conference was hosted at Hotel Kiranshree Grand in Guwahati. Dr. Sourav Gupta from the Dep’t of J & MC, Dr. Nupur Pattanaik from Dep’t of Sociology and Dr. Gagana Bihari Suar from the Dep’t of Education represented the CUO in the event. The CUO team was nominated and ably mentored by Prof Chakradhar Tripathi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CUO. The event was coordinated on behalf of CUO by Prof Bharat Kr Panda, NEP Coordinator.
The inaugural dais featured His Excellency Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Ranoj Pegu & Shri Rakkam Sangma, the Education Ministers of Assam & Meghalaya, Chairman, UGC and Vice Chancellor, Pragjyotishpur University. The inaugural session was followed by a theme based discussion where 10 groups comprising academics deliberated on a theme related to NEP and its implementation. Each group prepared a set of recommendations and strategies on its implementation under NEP. The CUO Faculty members deliberated on the themes Interdisciplinary & Holistic Education, Digital Empowerment & Online Education and Skill Development & Employability. The thematic presentations were presented before Chairman, UGC and a brainstorming session was held. It was followed by an interactive session with the Chairman Prof Kumar. The CUO Faculty actively participated, asked questions and described the efforts undertaken by the CUO towards implementation of NEP at CUO under the dynamic leadership of Prof Chakradhar Tripathi, Hon’ble V-C, CUO, including publication of Primers in Kui & Desia language, film making courses for STstudents, short term courses in Hindi & Japanese, Gopabandhu Studies, MOOCs, Digital Library courses etc. The discussion encompassed various issues ranging from National Credit Framework, Academic Bank of Credits, Infrastructure, Collaboration, Accreditation, Governance, Integrated Teachers’ Training etc. The UGC Chairman announced that very soon UGC is coming up with the draft UGC regulations on various important issues for consideration of stakeholders and it will be a flexible guideline facilitating NEP implementation.
The National Education Policy was launched in 2020 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India under the dynamic vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji and Shri Dharmendra Pradhanji, Hon’ble Education Minister of India. The educational institutions throughout India are in the process of implementing the NEP and to the UGC is holding several meetings & workshops to handhold the HEIs. The event was attended by Vice Chancellors, Academic Leaders and Teachers of various educational institutions.
