Criticism of Delhi Chief Minister for moving towards soft Hinduism calls for invoking secularism in paying salaries to priests of all religions rather than only in mosques

DELHI:It refers to interview of Delhi Chief Minister at virtual meet of HT leadership summit wherein he replied to criticism of his government sponsoring a live TV programme celebrating Deepawali at Akshardham Temple (Delhi) as his moving towards soft Hinduism that he always advised to perform puja for geeting peace.

But at the same time, it should be ensured that all religions may be placed at par by Delhi government in paying (or stop paying) salaries to priests of temples etc of different religions including also temples, churches and gurudwaras unlike presently where Delhi government provides salaries only to those in mosques. Even institutions of minority religions like Jainism, Sikhism, Christianism, Parsis are not put at par with those of Muslims in this regard. If financial implications do not allow paying salaries to priests in institutions of all religions, then government-provided salaries in mosques should also be stopped. Such a step will provide peace in mind of all secular-minded people where they are now fed up with pseudo-secular politics of minority-appeasing through such steps for vote-bank politics.

It is noteworthy that polarization of votes in name of religion as witnessed in recently held selections to Bihar state-assembly giving five seats to All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen led by Asaduddin Owaisi has caused panic waves amongst all political parties till now banking on votes of a particular minority religion.
