CRITICALLY ILL MAN DIES AFTER BEING DENIED AMBULANCE SERVICE OVER COVID-19 SCARE IN BERHAMPUR

BERHAMPUR:a critically ill man Manoj Praharaj helplessly seen him dying in front of his wife and sons in front of his house after a 108 ambulance refused to carry the person to hospital suspecting him of suffering from COVID-19.

The incident was reported from Prahallad Nagar in Berhampur town in Ganjam district today.

”My father was suffering from fever also a diabetic patient for past couple of days. When his condition worsened today, we called up the 108 ambulance service to take him to the nearby hospital,” Few hours later a 108 ambulance arrived at the man’s house. However, the ambulance employees refused to take him to pick-up in suspect of Corona patient to the hospital as alleged by family members.

Even the son of deceased requested to the Ambulance driver with folded hands to help and save the life of my Dad. “The ambulance employees said the 104 ambulance will arrive at our house and carry my father to the hospital. But the 104 ambulance reached here late and in the meantime my father was dead,” the son added.

However, after this incident noticed to the District Collector by Press people the Collector has issued a official circular that Corona/Covid patients can avail both 108 and 104 ambulance facility.
