Criminal Case Against 5 Cops Including IIC on Charges of ‘Sexual’ Assault of Indian Army Major’s Fiancé
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Crime Branch on Friday filed a criminal case against five suspended cops of the Bharatpur police station including its former IIC in connection with the alleged ‘sexual assault’ on an Indian Army Major’s fiancé.
After filing the criminal case, the Crime Branch has directed the five suspended police officers to appear for interrogation. The case was registered after the Indian Army officer of Sikh Regiment Major Gurvansh Singh lodged an official complaint with the Odisha Crime Branch.
Speaking to the media on Thursday evening, Singh’s fiancé alleged sexual harassment by the on-duty police officers at the Bharatpur polices station including IIC Dinakrushna Mishra, SI Baisalini Panda, ASI Salilamayee Sahoo, ASI Sagarika Rath, and Constable Balaram Handa.
According to her, she closed her restaurant at around 1 am on September 15 and was returning home with the Army Major, when some miscreants misbehaved with them. They managed to escape and reached the Bharatpur police station. They requested the cops present there to apprehend the miscreants first. But they were allegedly assaulted, humiliated sexually harassed at the Bharatpur police station.
