COVID WARRIORS THREATENED AT GUNPOINT IN KENDRAPARA

KEMDRAPADA: A 38-year-old man has been arrested by police for allegedly threatening COVID warriors at gunpoint at Patrapur village under Aul Police limits of Kendrapara district Tuesday.

The accused person has been identified as Biswa Ranjan Parida of the same village.

According to reports, a nine-member team of health staff had visited the village to collect swab samples this morning. In the meanwhile, the accused person approached the swab collection camp and threatened the health workers at gunpoint.

He also allegedly hurled abused and threatened the team by brandishing a gun. Following this, the health workers lodged a complaint with Aul police station in this regard.

On the basis of the FIR, Aul Police registered a case (118/2020) under Sections 294/332 of the IPC; Sec 25 of the Arms Act; Sec 3 of Medicare Service Persons & Service Institution Act; Sec 57 of Disaster Management Act & Sec 3 of Epidemic Diseases Control Act and arrested the accused.

“Misbehaviour with corona warriors will be dealt very strictly,” tweeted Kendrapara SP.
