COVID-19 Worst-Hit Ganjam: Odisha Govt Deploys 130 Doctors

BERHAMPUR,14/07/20:The Odisha government today deployed as many as 100 doctors (AMOs/HMOs) along with 30 medical officers (MBBS doctors) for effective management of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Ganjam district.

“ln view of the COVID-19 outbreak, the medical officers are hereby deployed at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Ganjam in exigencies of public interest with immediate effect,” read an official notification.

According to reports, along with the 130 doctors, five OAS officers, 47 ORS (Group-B) officers, and 33 laboratory technicians have also been sent to Ganjanm district to tackle the situation.

Reportedly, Ganjam remains in the top spot with 4,335 COVID-19 positive cases so far. As many as 44 persons have succumbed to the deadly coronavirus infection in the district. The number of active Covid-19 cases in the district stands at 1854.

On July 4, the Odisha government had deputed four young DSPs to Ganjam district to contain the deadly virus while six Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers were also sent to the district.

The Ganjam district administration had declared shutdown in all urban local bodies (ULBs) of the district from July 9 to July 13 for a hassle-free.
