Welcome regulation of cost of corona-treatment in private hospitals of Delhi should be made permanent feature for all diseases in these money-minting hospitals

DELHI:It is satisfying to note that with intervention of central government, cost of corona-treatment in private hospital including in super-costly ones have now been fixed at quite reduced costs. It became necessary also because government-hospitals in Delhi were not sufficient to handle largely day-to-day increasing cases of corona mainly the serious ones. Welcome initiative of central government will be a big relief especially for middle-income people. It is significant that even Delhi Health Minister had to be shifted a renowned private hospital of Delhi establishing poor infrastructure and facilities in government hospitals of Delhi.

But significant aspect should make central government fix treatment-costs even for normal diseases in private hospitals which are notorious for becoming money-minting treatment-centres with extremely high treatment-cost just for profit-generation. There are reports that highly paid consultants are employed in these health-shops with pre-condition of bringing some minimum daily business even with unethical measures like forcibly admission to hospitals by terrorising patients and their attendants wrongly about alleged deteriorating condition of patients.

However some super-luxury suites without price-regulation but with a maximum fixed percentage of total beds in these hospitals may be allowed for affording rich. But treatment in such luxury suites must not be allowed at cost of public-exchequer even for highly posted in legislature, judiciary or bureaucracy including in public-sector-undertakings.

Regulating normal treatment-costs in private hospitals in Delhi will be a boon especially for middle-income people who presently can neither afford private hospitals nor bear hardships in government-hospitals because of loss of their business or professional.
