CORONA VIRUS MODI APPEALS FOR SELF-IMPOSED JANATA CURFEW ON SUNDAY

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for JANATA CURFEW on Sunday in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak. It will be self-imposed and self-regulated and will be effective from 7 in the morning till 9 in the evening. He said, no one should step out of their homes during this period except those people in essential services.
The Prime Minister was addressing the nation this evening in light of the corona virus outbreak. He also urged countrymen to thank people like doctors, medical personnel and cleaning staff for their service on Sunday at 5 PM.
He requested all people to step out of house in the coming few weeks only if extremely necessary, and work from home as much as possible. He also urged senior citizens above the age of 65 years to stay at home in the coming days.
Modi said social distancing is very necessary in the present phase of corona virus pandemic. He said roaming around markets and crowded places is not the right approach as this will endanger people. He requested people to avoid going to hospitals for routine check-up in order to ease pressure on medical staff.
He said government is taking all necessary steps to ensure supply of essential commodities. He appealed to the people not to go for panic buying.
He also appealed to the business community to take care of the economic needs of their employees by not deducting their salary if they are not able to come to work. Prime Minister also said government has decided to constitute a Task Force under the Chairmanship of Finance Minister which will interact with all the stakeholders.
Modi said whenever a natural crisis occurs, generally it is limited to a few countries or states. However this time, he said the COVID-19 outbreak has put the entire human race in crisis around the world. He said government is keeping a close vigil and the role of citizens is very important to control the outbreak.
He pointed out that for a developing country like India with a huge population, corona virus will not be easy to deal with. He said resolve and restraint are a must in order to contain the outbreak.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of citizens to show resolve and perform duties and follow the directions laid down by centre and state governments. He said during such pandemics, only one mantra works; “World is healthy when We are healthy”.
WHAT IS JANATA CURFEW: A CURFEW OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE TO FIGHT CORONAVIRUS
PM Modi urged all the citizens of the country to stay off the roads and public places on Sunday (March 22).
The Janata Curfew on Sunday will start at 7 am and continue till 9 pm.
People working in essential services such as police, medical services, media, home delivery, fire fighting and serving the nation etc will not need to take part in the Janata Curfew.
At 5 pm, all the citizens are requested by the prime minister to encourage the people working in essential services, in the times of corona virus, by standing in their doorways and clapping and ringing their bells.
“For the past two months, millions are working day and night in hospitals and airports and those serving others by not taking care of themselves. On Mar 22, at 5 pm, we should stand on our doorways, balconies, in our windows and keep clapping hands and ringing the bells for five mins to salute and encourage them,” PM Modi said.
5. PM Modi has requested the citizens to inform at least 10 people of the Janata Curfew. “If possible, please call at least 10 people every day and tell them about the ‘Janta Curfew’ as well as the measures to prevent,” PM Narendra Modi said.
