COP RAIDED KHURDA JAIL OVER RAMPANT BROWN SUGAR TRADE (!)

KHURDA:Following media reports on rampant brown sugar trade inside Khurda sub-jail, raids were conducted at the jail premises on Saturday. Some videos of contraband smuggling went gone viral on social media today raising concern over the conduct of jail staff.
Reportedly, Khurda District Magistrate, Sub-Collector, SDPO, and other senior police officers are on the spot for inspection while one platoon of police force has been deployed on the jail premises.
As per sources, Khurda sub-jail has become a hub for illegal narcotics trade. While Khurda remains in the spotlight for brown sugar smuggling, videos of drug consumption inside the jail premises have raised eyebrows.
Sources said, following reports of rampant trade of drugs in Khurda area police and excise personnel had earlier zeroed in on several drug smugglers and peddlers. Though the accused persons have been lodged in Khurda sub-jail, they have been running the illegal trade right under the nose of the jail staff.
If sources are the be believed, the arrested smugglers are running their business from inside the jail by breaking the deals over mobile phone calls and greasing the palms of some unscrupulous staff. Videos of brown sugar packaging, consumption, and trade, purportedly taken inside Khurda sub-jail, have surfaced on social networking platforms exposing the lack of vigil by the authorities concerned.
Though it is been alleged that the viral video has been shot inside Khurda sub-jail, Superintendent Krushnachandra Rout has refuted the allegation. The truth will come to the fore after scrutiny of CCTV footages, he said.
