CONTINUOUS RAIN DESTROYED CROPS

Paralakhemundi:As harvesting time at peak, farmers suffered lot due to continuous rain which destroyed their seasonal crops like paddy & maize. As the district these two main crops at up, medium & plain land, by bargaining credit those marginal farmers cultivating such yearly crops for both food security & livelihoods. About to harvest those crops now slipped at those land & destroyed by spurious rain. 20 farmers of Badasindhaba panchayat of Mohana block lost their paddy procurement. For 3 kgs hybrid paddy purchased on Rs. 1250 from market expected good returns but their dream destroyed.Had it been supported by government they would have reprieved of such liabilities.Such farmers like Sarat Mallick, Chitrasen Mallick, Biswamitra Mallick, Bisikesan Mallick,Rabi Mallick, Purnachandra Mallick lost their yearly labour which tarnished by rain now at open sky. Similarly those maize crops too damaged. While intimated with Sandip Kumar Sahu of block agriculture officer, he will survey actual loss of those farmers. Accordingly they will be supported.
