COMPLAINANT TURNS OUT TO BE ACCUSED: ULTERIOR MOTIVE BUSTED BY RAYAGADA POLICE

Rayagada, August 2: On last Saturday morning the complainant named Sri Bankupalli Viswa Ganapati alias Ganesh Sharma, claiming to a priest, alongwith his mother had been to Palakonda in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh to sort out the old age pension issue. After arrival in his house at Royat Colony in Rayagada town he found that some unknown culprits committed theft of rupees thirty lakhs and ten tola of golden articles by breaking upon the lock of the door of his house. After he lodged an FIR, a case was registered under Rayagada PS case no-159 on the same date under section-457/380 IPC and the investigation was conducted by Sri Rashmi Ranjan Pradhan, IIC, Rayagada PS.
During interrogation, the complainant Bankupalli Viswa Ganapati Sharma confessed that with an ulterior motive, he himself concealed the cash amounting rupees twenty four lakhs and other gold ornaments. Police seized the cash and ornaments and exhibited before the media. Eyebrows were raised regarding the source of huge amount of cash hidden in the house of the complainant who later turned out to be the accused. The effort of IIC Pradhan & the team under the leadership of SP Sri Vivekananda Sharma, IPS has been applauded by Rayagada denizens for busting the racket in a very shot span of just one day. “The accused must be taken to task for misleading the locals and more specifically, the police”, said Sri Rabindra Patakhandal, Convenor of Odisha Suchan Adhikar Mancha spearheading the right to information campaign in the district.
