Again Contraband Ganja Seized by Berhampur Police (!).
BERHAMPUR: On Saturday morning at 9.30 AM while SI Arjun Jena and staff of Badabazar Police were performing Motor Vehicle Checking duty near at 1st Gate leading to Digapahandi Road detected and checked one Tata Ace Goods carrier vehicle bearing No JH-01-EF-1423 and found three numbers of Ganja bags loaded inside the vehicle along with one Yamaha Fascino Scooter bearing Reg. No O-07-T-6001 was also loaded inside the vehicle containing one full bag of Ganja. Police recovered total 60 Kgs 350 Grams of contraband Ganja and seized.
The vehicle was driven by Sandeep Kumar (19) and his helper Rohit Kumar (18) of Ranchi, Jharkhand.
In context, one Manoj Ray (45) of Sukhdev Nagar, Ranchi, Jharkhand who is the Ganja vendor has hired the vehicle all along with Ranchi – Berhampur then to Gajapati District.
Police said, they procured the Ganja from one Daktar Nayak (40) S/o Goura Chandra Nayak of Gangapur, Ganjam who has collected the Ganja from different sources.
They all confirm to police the Ganja was smuggled them and transported to Ranchi of Jharkhand on the eve of Holi Festival as well for WB poll.
All accused persons, contraband Ganja weighing 60 Kgs 350 Gms along with the Tata Ace van, Yamaha Scooter, 4 numbers of Mobile Phones, Aadhar card, PAN Card, three numbers of ATMs and Cash of Rs 2000-/ have been seized from their possession.
Inspector Prasant Bhupati, IIC Badabazar Police station is investigating into the case. In this Connection Badabazar P.S Case No 71/2021 U/s 20(b)(ii)(C)/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered and all four accused persons have been detained. The further investigation is ON.
