CM’s Helicopter Grounded at Kendrapara College Transported to Mumbai by Road

Bhubaneswar: A helicopter used by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, which had remained grounded for over a month at Kendrapara Autonomous College, was finally moved to Mumbai for repairs on Wednesday.

The helicopter was damaged by a lightning strike during the Chief Minister’s visit on June 9.

Despite safe landing, the incident forced the CM to return by road. Following unsuccessful repair attempts by three engineers over a week, the aircraft remained grounded, drawing media attention and prompting action from the district administration.

A team of aviation engineers dismantled the rotor blades and used a JCB to load the helicopter onto a trailer truck. The 800-km journey to Mumbai will take approximately 10 days. Two escort vehicles are accompanying the transport for safety.

This Airbus-manufactured helicopter will be repaired in Mumbai.

Officials acted swiftly to clear the lone college ground amid concerns it could disrupt Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
