CM INAUGURATES ROB AT BERHAMPUR,LAYS FOUNDATION FOR COOPERATIVE GINNING MILL AT DIGAPAHANDI

BERHAMPUR:Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated a Rail Over Bridge at Berhampur and laid the foundation stone for a cooperative Ginning mill at Digapahandi through video conference on Saturday.

Addressing the occasion, Patnaik hailed the cooperation of the people of Ganjam in containing the spread of COVID-19. He also appreciated the dedicated service of doctors, paramedics, and the hard work of Dist administration in this mission.

The Chief Minister said that as an important higher education, health, and commercial hub of southern Odisha, Berhampur deserves the special focus of the Govt. To transform Berhampur into a modern city,  a lot of initiatives are being worked out. The new ROB constructed at a cost of Rs 27 CR  will fulfill the aspirations of the people for a hassle-free communication, the CM added.

The cooperative Ginning mill of Digapahandi will provide jobs to 100 skilled and unskilled workers besides helping cotton growers of the nearby 6 blocks, the CM said.

The Chief Minister said Ganjam is slowly returning to normalcy but the danger is not over yet. So He appealed to people to remain alert and follow the  COVID guidelines scrupulously until the war is over.

Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, Minister Prafulla Mallick hailed the steps taken up by the Chief Minister to start economic activity even during the pandemic. MP Berhampur, Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner, APC PRS Agriculture and Cooperation,  Secretary to Chief Minister & 5-T and Secretary Works were also present on the occasion.

Besaides on the other end Ganjam Collector,Vijay Amruta Kulange,MP Berhampur Chandra Sekhar Sahu, Ex MLA cum President BJD GanjamDr Ramesh Chandra Chyupatnaik, Ex BDA Chairman Subash Moharana DIPRO Ganjam Rabinarayan Behera and all line of officers were present.

The Road overbridge from Lanjipali to Engineering school was started in2015 and completed on schedule. It will benefit more than 40 thousand people in Ganjam RMC Digapahandi’s cotton and ginning and pressing unit is the first of its kind in the cooperative sector. It will be set up  in PPP mode with a total investment of 2.10 Cr. The unit will have the capacity to produce 50 quintal lint cotton per day. The unit will employ 100 skilled and unskilled labourers. The cotton-producing areas of Digapahandi, Sanekhmundi, Dharakote, Sheragada, Patrapur, Jagannathprasad, and Bhanjanagar blocks of Ganjam district will be benefitted by this unit.
