CHIEF MINISTER DIRECTS DGP FOR STRICT COMPLIANCE OF COVID-19

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said while the enforcement activities throughout the State is encouraging, but the feedback from the Twin City of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack is not up to mark. He urged the Police DG to directly look into this and do the needful as being done throughout the State.

Patnaik has urged the District Collectors to implement MGNREGS and other livelihood activities to boost the rural economy.

In a review meeting through video conferencing on Wednesday, Patnaik said such programmes must be scaled up like never before and be closely monitored. The Chief Minister said the rural economy is slowing down and added that it is imperative to pump in funds to rural households to save it from disaster.

The MSME and other Industrial activities should be fully supported to reach pre-COVID levels, he said.

He further urged that fisheries, animal husbandry, horticulture, soil conservation, forestry and agriculture interventions as announced in livelihood package should be followed up as a top priority. Credit flow to farmers, Mission Shakti, Self Help Groups, MSME, and weavers must be closely followed up, Patnaik added.

The Chief Minister said the Collectors must ensure scaled up activities in livelihood sectors coupled with increased fund flow. This is the only way by which we can protect Rural Odisha particularly poor people from the impact of the economic slowdown.

He said the last quarter economic growth of the country is minus 23 per cent. Let us not allow people to be affected by this, Patnaik added.

The Chief Minister expressed his happiness that over 1.25 lakh persons have recovered from coronavirus and said he would like to appreciate the efforts of health functionaries and COVID Warriors for their efforts. Over one lakh have recovered in the past five weeks itself.
