Chariot launched on eve of road safety week
Rayagada (Badal Tah) : An awareness campaign was launched through a chariot on wheel on the eve of Road Safety Week. Collector Parul Patawari, ADM, RTI and MVI jointly flagged off the chariot by showing green flags. This awareness aims to reduce the number of road accidents in the district. Road Safety Week is observed in Rayagada district from January 1st to 7th. In order to create widespread program and public awareness, inspection will be conducted in the district under the supervision of Regional Transport Officer Shiba Shankar Choudhury. Awareness campaign will be complemented by Bus Owners’ Assiciation, Truck Owners Association, Auto Union, Drivers’ Union and other related federations. Local Police and RTO will conduct jointly raid together and create awareness especially about helmet use, speeding, driving without license. Under age children driving vehicles will be warned about driving and fined. Eye tests will be done for motorists. Slogan, quiz and drawing competition will be held among school and college students. District education officer will organize competition among school students. Similarly competition will be organized at college levels. Successful contestants will be awarded at district level and state level programs. Cyclothons and walkathons involving various institutions, dignitaries will be held.
