Central University of Odisha celebrated its 14th Foundation Day

Sunabeda: 29/08/22: Central University of Odisha celebrated its 14th Foundation Day at its Sunabeda campus. Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended the program as the chief guest. He addressed the gathering through virtually. He stressed on the need for research and development to promote the local food processing sector in the Koraput region. Union Minister Shri Pradhan said that the Central University should cooperate in taking the super food of Koraput district to the international level. Shri  Pradhan called upon to establish India as an educated society and take responsibility of the oppressed people . The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sarat Kumar Palita delivered the inaugural address and congratulated the University fraternity for  successfully completing  its 13 years of journey.  He said that the University has been successful to some extent in meeting the needs of the people and aims to achieve academic excellence. It needs a lot of work. G20 India Sherpa Amitabh Kant presented the University Foundation Day lecture and commended the University for its continuous efforts in academic achievement. He expressed happiness that more than 50 percent girl students are getting education in the university.  Professor Nirmal Kumar Ganguly, former Director General, ICMR, as the Guest of Honour, emphasized on the development of education and research for holistic development. He opined that students should learn about other aspects like music, culture, sports and heritage  etc apart from studies. Koraput MLA and District Planning Board President Raghuram Padal,  Pattangi  MLA Pritam Padhi , Sunabeda Municipality Chairman  Dr. Rajendra Kumar Patra , University Executive Council Member Prof Meena Hariharan and Prof Manjula Rana ,visiting Professor  Sunil Kant Behera , Commandant of 202 Cobra Battalion Bruno  A ,  social activist Krishna Singh graced the occasion as special guests.  Early in the day Vice Chancellor Professor S K Palita unfurled the University Flag and addressed the university faculty and staff. Professor Asit Kumar Das, Registrar of the University delivered the welcome address. Three books were released on the occasion. The Dean of Students  Welfare, Dr. Ramendra Kumar Padhi proposed the vote of thanks and Dr. Minati Sahu, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, conducted the programme.
