Berhampur: The Ganjam district administration allowed only for 7 days conducting the biennial festival of Maa Budhi Thakurani Yatra in Berhampur Mahanagar amid strict adherence to all the Covid-19 guidelines laid down by the State governments.

Yatra means which is usually observed minimum for 21 days but this year due to Covid-19 spike arising day by day in Berhampur Mahanagr, On Thursday administration has directed the Manager of Yatra Committee to adhere all guideline. On Thursday, Sub Collector, Berhampur cited in his official tweet and describe to follow the “Pancha Sutra” (Covid Mantra).

As per the rituals, the devotees led by P.Durga Prasad who considered as the father Maa Budhi Thakurani with his family would march to the temple and invite the Goddess (Maa Thakurani, the Istha of Berhampur) to come with him from in-law place to her parental home at Desibehera street.

As the Yatra scheduled to start from today the administration has imposed Section 144 from Budhi Thakrani temple to temporary Peetha (Astai Mandir) only the main approaching road between Temple to temporary Peetha from 6 PM (?).

Besides, the BeMC Commissioner has appealed the people of Ganjam not to invite their relatives, friends or well wishers from outside the district or State during the biennial festival though as on date the city situation can be control but what will he happen on tomorrow he cannot assure.

Other side on last Wednesday Odisha Chief Minister,Naveen Patnaik  reviewed the Covid-19 situation arising out of the spike in the number of corona virus cases in the state, asked the District Collector and Police administration to from 6th April,2021 to launch a 10-day special drive to strictly enforce the Covid-19 safety protocol. He also instructed the district magistrates and collectors to involve all sections of the society and ensure awareness and enforcement of the measures.

At this juncture now both the administration are confused” one side emotion of Devotees’ other side Covid-19 protocol and Yatra”.

One Senior administrative officer said, we are not going to touch the sentiment of Devotees we too want let the Yatra to run peacefully but subject to Covid-19 guideline and “Pancha Sutra”.

While discussing with one senior Police officer in his reaction he said, this is very difficult task for police; one side crowd management during Yatra period  and other side special drive to enforce the Covid-19.
