BMS Rayagada celebrates its 68th Foundation Day

Rayagada, July 24: The meet was inaugurated by garlanding flowers, lighting the lamp before Bharat Mata, Lord Viswakarma and the founder of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh(BMS) Late Dottopant Thengadi. An opening song was sung by team BMS, Rayagada. The meet commenced by offering one minute silent tribute to all the demised BMS members.

Dr Badal Kumar Tah, Sr journalist & President of  SAKSHAM, bestowed the dais as a chief guest. He presented the history of capitalism and Communism and roles of employer-employee in those era. How BMS evolved from these two ideologies and stressed upon employer-employee relation as a family without interference of a third party. He lamented upon the differential treatment for the basic service providers like Anganwadi workers, ASHA, Cooks, contract labourers in the industries, etc and role of present labour unions.

Union leader and BMS state secretary Sri Jogeswar Das emphasised that after Indian independence, various labour unions were formed for the protection and betterment of working conditions of our labour force, but they were inclined to one or other political parties.

Thus they have varied opinions and ideologies but BMS is the only one apolitical labour union that works in the national front for the welfare of both organised and unorganised  labour force engaged in the process of production, construction, manufacturing, farm and other activities where labour is a vital element.

This meet was celebrated by various labour associations of the district under the flagship of BMS namely All Odisha Anganwadi Ladies Workers Association of Odisha, ASHA karmi union, JK paper mills labour union, UAIL labour union, Rayagada district business mazdoor sangh, Biswakarma mazdoor sangh, Imfa contract labour union, pachika sangh, Association of Rayagada hotel staff, Rayagada district safai mazdoor sangh, Rayagada district masons association, Rayagada district auto drivers association, etc. BMS representatives from eleven blocks also joined the occasion.

The meet was presided over by district president Sri Mohan Rao Majhi. Vice-President Jayanti Padmalaya Sahu, Treasurer Usharani Dash, Neha Singh, Dharmsingh Nag, Mamata Biswal, Paramananda Pradhan, A.Tirupati Rao, K Ram Babu, Niranjan Senapati spoke eloquently about various local labour issues. Basanta Ulaka, Rama Chandra Sahu, Shyama Das, Bidyabhusan Panda & others participated. Vice-President Sri Durga Madhab Ghose coordinated and moderated the whole event very successfully.The meet was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sri Ganesh Kumar Sahu, Secretary BMS, Rayagada district.
