BLAST IN PETROL PUMP NEAR RAJ BHAWAN, BHUBANESWAR

BHUBANESWAR: This afternoon at 1.35pm a heavy blast was observed in a Petrol pump near Raj Bhawan, Bhubaneswar. Fire out of the blast can be seen more than 60 meters high and the blast was so heavy the sound was heard up to 2 kms from the spot. Immediately the fire fighters and police have rushed to the spot and tried to control the fire. Till the time of reporting fire was almost controlled but the police have vacated the place around 300 meters from the spot to avoid any injuries if any further occurrence due to fire. As per the initial investigation it is expected that the fire was from the storage of CNG tank and blast took place thereafter. Since another tank is available in the petrol pump and the location is close proximity of Governor’s house, maximum precautions are being taken. It is seen in the television, CP, Bhubaneswar was on the ground and had taken the lead role to control the mob reaching nearer to the fire spot. Police has barricaded the entire area and investigation is initiated. Almost four to five Fire extinguisher trucks was engaged to douse the fire. Few ambulances are also seen in the spot to take the injured, if any. As per the preliminary reports two people are injured and been taken to the hospital. This is first of its kind in Bhubaneswar in recent times.
