BJP Appoints 2 Observers For Appointment Of CM In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Amid the continuing suspense over new chief minister, the BJP has appointed Rajnath Singh and Bhupender Yadav as observers for election of the leader of its 78-member legislature party in Odisha.
Brajarajnagar MLA-elect Suresh Pujari, who returned from New Delhi after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony, said that the BJP parliamentary board, the highest decision-making body of the party, would take a decision on it soon. “Experienced leaders led by newly-appointed observers Rajnath Singh and Bhupender Yadav will hold discussion with the legislators,” said Pujari, who is said to be a contender for the top post.
The BJP legislature party meeting will be held on June 11, he added.
Besides Pujari, state BJP president Manmohan Samal, and MLAs-elect KV Singh and Mohan Majhi are also in the reckoning.
The swearing-in of the CM of the maiden BJP government is slated to take place at Janata Maidan here on June 12. Modi will also be conducting a roadshow before attending the oath-taking ceremony.
The saffron party won 78 of 147 Assembly seats and swept the Lok Sabha polls, pocketing 20 of 21 seats.
