BJP Activists Pelt Eggs, Scuffle With Police In Berhampur

Berhampur:Hundreds of BJP activists and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha(BJYM) scuffled with the Police when they were stopped from gearing the SP office in Berhampur on Friday over demands of the ouster of Captain Dibyashankar Mishra, the MoS (Home) so as to ensure a fair probe in the Mamita Meher murder case.
SDPO, Berhampur city and a Deputy Superintendent of Police rank officer was reportedly injured in the clashes which erupted when the Police tried to stop the protesters from entering the SP’s office.
The protesters hurled eggs, tomatoes and shoes even stones at the Police. Some protesters and one Camp person of TV channel have also sustained injuries in the scuffle.
Speaking to press SP Berhampur,Pinak Mishra said any political party have right to protest, demonstrate with their issues but pelting eggs,stones,tomato etc and injuring Cop on duty are not fair in our democracy. However we have identified some mischievous and a FIR has been registered at BN Police station for further investigation.
BJP leader Bhrugu Baxipatra said, “BJP has been demonstrating since the last 15 days to get justice to Mamita which she deserves. Our demands are to hand over the probe to the CBI and the ouster and the arrest of Minister Mishra.”
