BJD SWEEPS ODISHA BYPOLLS, SNATCHES BALASORE SADAR &TIRTOL ASSEMBLY SEAT WITH HUGE MARGIN

BHUBANESWAR:The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) snatched the Balasore MLA seat from BJP after BJD candidate Swarup Das defeated BJP’s Manas Kumar Dutta by a margin of 13,351 votes.

Though official results are yet to be announced, Das secured 84,097 votes while his near rival Manas Kumar Dutta managed to bag 70,746 votes.

The by-election was necessitated following the death of BJP MLA Madan Mohan Dutta in Balasore.

Das credited his win to the development agenda of Naveen Patnaik led government. “The massive development undertaken by BJD and its leader Naveen Patnaik has attracted the voters to vote for BJD. BJD also did an exemplary work during the Covid-19 pandemic by coming to the rescue of all section.

Similarly for Tirtol seat the BJD candidate Bijay Shankar Das defeated BJP candidate Rajkishore Behera by 41703 votes in Tirtol seat in Jagatsinghpur district.

The by-election at Tirtol was necessitated following the death of BJD MLA Bishnu Charan Das in Tirtol Bijay Shankar Das, the son of the late legislator bagged 88310 votes while his rival Behera got 46607 votes.

BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated the winners of the by polls.
