SHOs are evaluated on a range of performance indicators. A primary indicator is the overall reduction in crime rates within their jurisdiction, including specific categories like murder, dacoity, robbery, burglary, theft and other cognizable offenses. Police Inspectors are evaluated on the timely and effective disposal of cases, including FIR registration, investigation, and charge-sheeting or closure. The thoroughness and quality of investigations are assessed, including evidence collection, witness statements, and adherence to legal procedures.Success in detecting and solving crimes, and recovering stolen property is also a key factor. Inspectors are also responsible for maintaining peace and order within their jurisdiction, including crowd control, riot management, and prevention of public disturbances. Biswabandini, who comes from a modest background from Kalahandi district, adjacent to Rayagada, has stood firm as far as these indicators are concerned.
