Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium inaugurated by Naveen Patnaik today in Rourkela

ROURKELA: As widely discussed, the Birsa Munda International hockey Stadium was inaugurated this afternoon by hon’ble Cm,Odisha Naveen Patnaik with all senior dignitaries. He was the architect behind the idea of this stadium in the Hockey Fort of Odisha, Sundergarh district. This is the largest Hockey stadium with a sitting capacity of more than 21000. This was built in a war footing time of 12 months, the marvelous art of its construction style with all amenities for players with Gym, Sitting areas and many other facilities. Odisha is the proud host of Men’s Hockey World Cup, 2023. The foundation stone of this stadium was laid in February, 2021 and at that point of time it was unbelievable for many that this stadium can be built within the time frame, to host the Men’s Hockey world cup in 2023. Anyways, credit goes to Naveen Patnaik and local administration to make it possible and the World Cup Hockey will kick start from 13th January to 29th January. As Indian team is the mostly sought team of this event, it is believed, India may create a record of winning the world cup after 1975. Moreover, Padma Shree, Dilip Tirkey is the President of Hockey India, a proud moment and under his leadership Men’s World cup Hockey is being organized in Rourkela, Odisha. The inauguration was held with massive fire crackers lighted the entire sky above the stadium and with loud cheering by huge crowd present over there. Before inauguration Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated the Hockey village prepared for players and many other projects undertaken by the State Govt.  The people of Sundergarh district is all excited to witness matches to be played here and local administration is all ready to host this event and to make it successful.
