Berhampur Police Conducted Special Drive to Check Drunken Driving & Drive against Public Drinking in OFF Shops

Berhampur:All Police stations under Berhampur police district conducted special drive against drunken driving throughout on Sunday evening onwards.The drivers who were found driving under the influence of alcohol were arrested.The total arrested persons and number vehicles on pipe line.However their vehicles are seized and their Driving licence will be cancelled said by Berhampur Superintendent of Police Dr.Saravana Vivek.M,IPS.
Following the venture drive against drinking at public places and in OFF shops were conducted throughout Berhampur. The gentle violators were detained at different police stations.Prosecution report will be submitted against them in the court for further action.The major reasons behind is road accidents .The aim and object is the enforcement In Berhampur Police resumed this Special Drive is meant to check drunken driving,he further added that,despite a set of strict laws and regulations, drunk driving drivers behave the law very lightly.
Notably,2019 amendment of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 mentions that in the case of drunken driving, first-time offenders will face imprisonment of up to six months and/or a fine of up to Rs.10, 000. The second offence can lead to up to two years prison term and/or a fine of Rs. 15,000.
