BERHAMPUR POLICE BUSTS CRICKET BETTING RACKET, ARRESTS KINGPIN

BERHAMPUR (Odisha), With the arrest of two persons and seizure of over Rs 33 lakhs in Berhampur city in Ganjam here, today Police claimed to have busted a racket involved in betting on IPL betting.
Apart from over Rs 33 lakhs in Cash, One Master Mobile Phone,3 ATM cards of different banks and other incriminating materials were seized from the Duo.
Friday at noon in a Press Meet,Mr Satyabrata Bhoi,DIG Southern range said on the tip off the organisation of illegal Online Cricket betting of Indian Premier league (IPL),our expert police team lead by IIC,Gosaninuagaon Sumeet Soren under proper guidance of Berhampur SP,Mr.Pinak Mishra have stymied to nab the Kingpin of the betting racket in Berhampur City and they achieved their goal set.
Through our ongoing interrogation by many Senior Officers the rank of Additional SP, it is ascertained the accused persons use to play in various Online betting Websites. The accused persons have connive them with the help of veteran agents in major cities like Kolkota, Mumbai, Delhi and Dubai and collected huge amount from the general innocent public to bet Online with false commitment for getting a profitable margin.Bhoi said.
The accused persons were identified as R.Lalie Achary and K Prashant Kumar Subudhi the Kingpins in betting trend.
Speaking to Media, Mr.Pinak Mishra,SP Berhampur told ,we are still in process of investigating to ascertain their other possible link with bookies in other States.
In connection police have registered a case u/s. 294/A/420/120-B/34 IPC and r/w. Sec 4/5 money circulation scheme Act 1978.
