Berhampur Police Arrested Man for Fake Land Scam

Berhampur: The Berhampur Nimakhandi police station on Wednesday arrested one person allegedly involved in a land scam in Berhampur.
The arrested person, identified as Ashok Kumar Jena S/o- Panchanan Jena Vill-Khandarava Post- Nimina ,Gangpur police limit,at present residing at Sri Nagar, Bhabinipur,Berhampur under Nimakhandi police station,
On Wednesday The case was registered on the basis of the allegation of Usharani Biswal (39) W/O Amulyakrushna Pradhan of village Burupada, PS Hinjili currently staying at Gudari, Rayagada the above case was registered. She alleged that one Ashok Kumar Jena cheated her by taking a cash of Rs.8 lakhs from her by producing fake documents promising her to give land.
During its investigation, the police said, it came to light that the complainant knew Ashok Kumar Jena since long, he asked her to purchase a plot at Berhampur as he deals with plot business and said he has also owned plots. Complainant paid 6 lakhs on 18.04.2023 ,1 lakh on 29.05.23 and cash Rs 1 lakh on 30.05.2023, total 8 lakhs to purchase plot at Bhabinipur Mouza. All payment were made online.
Accused assured to sell his plot measuring 1650 Sq.feet for Rs.10,00,000/- on 4.9.2023, which was in the name of Priyanka Pradhan (wife of accused) and created an agreement to sell the Plot on 04.09.2023 between Priyanka Pradhan and Complainant. Accused Ashok Jena and his wife Priyanka Pradhan arranged a Fake slot booking of the plot at Sub Register-I, Berhampur to be held 12.07. 2023. When complainant came to know that the accused Ashok Kumar Jena has cheated her and he has no valid plot she reported at PS for the legal action.
This may underline Ashok Kumar Jena and his wife Priyanka Pradhan are also involved in Nimakhandi P.S.case No.360 dt.7.11.2023 U/s 420/467/468/471/34 I.P.C.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
