BERHAMPUR: On Friday the Septage treatment plant handed over to AGRTA CLF, BeMC for operation and Mainteance through video conference by Hon’ble Minister H &UD, Principal Secretary, DMA Additional director SUDA and Member Secretary OWSSB, in presence of ,Collector Ganjam, Mr Vijay Amruta Kulange,IAS,Commissioner BeMC,Mr Chkravartysingh Rathore,IAS and PD DUDA, Ganjam.
The BeMC has finalised the operation and maintenance of the Septage treatment plant at Mohuda through WSHGs.
The success of the IEC campaign on Malasur phase-I , phase – II and the operation and maintenance of the CTs by these women collective acted as an inspiration for introducing a revenue generating model for increasing requests for mechanized cesspool emptying operations through referrals received from SHGs.
The initiative on referral model for cesspool demand generation is based on the concept wherein the SHGs were provided an incentives per request generated from each household.Similarly, Agrata City Level Federation has received Swachhata Excellence Award for their outstanding performance which was appreciated pan India.
The short listing of the appropriate SHG for this work was done through a rigorous evaluation process. Four SHGs were shortlisted among 70 other SHGs who had aspired for taking up this task. All the SHGs were scrutinised through a pre-qualification criteria. These four shortlisted SHGs went through a series of evaluation process and led to the selection of AGARATA CLF and other SHG members.
BeMC have engaged members of AGRATA CLF with a conditional SHGs with a conditional agreement from November 2019 for building their capacities, followed by on-field training under the guidance of Housing and urban development department, Odisha.
The SHG members went through two rounds of training. During the first round oftraining ten executive body members from AGRATA CLF and ten Selected SHG members were given training by TSU-FSSM and OWSSB.
Similarly, in the second round, ten SHG members were completely handed over the plant for operation and maintenance and given the responsibility of managing the Septage Treatment Plant by their own. During the program the training on Financial management along with leadership training were given by the resource person from SUDA.
After fulfilling the criteria by the WSHGs, BeMC finalising the agreement with AGRATA CLF for complete handover of the septage treatment plant, Mohuda. Where HR cost will be paid to AGRATA CLF, rest expenditure will be supplemented by BeMC. 30% of surplus will be given to executive body members and 70% will be given to members working at SeTP.
