Bargarh’s Kamsa Maharaja Accused of Taking Bribe
Bargarh: Hrusikesh Bhoi, who is famous for enacting the character of Kamsa in Bargarh’s Dhanu Jatra, is alleged to have demanded and accepted a bribe.
According to reports, Hrusikesh is a government hearse driver. It is alleged that on Tuesday, he demanded Rs 3000 bribe to transport a body from the Bargarh district headquarters hospital (DHH) to Bahala village in Gaisilet block.
As per reports, the son of the deceased, Purna Chandra Sahu, has alleged that Hrusikesh demanded Rs 3,000 bribe from him after delivering the body at the village.
Sahu alleged that Hrushikesh stopped the hearse in the middle of the road and demanded Rs 3,000 to take it to the village. According to Sahu, his brother-in-law gave the money to Hrushikesh.
On the next day, the family made a written complaint to the to CDMO, Bargarh, demanding action against Hrusikesh for demanding and accepting bribe. Bargarh CDMO, Nirupama Sarangi has issued a show cause notice to Hrusikesh.
The CDMO has formed a team to investigate the matter. Action will be taken if the allegation is found to be true. In Odisha, the hearse service is provided free of cost, especially for the poor.
Speaking to the media, Hrusikesh claimed that the family members had put some money in his shirt pocket when they recognized as the person who acts as demon king Kamsa in the Dhanu Jatra. He said that he could not say anything at that time and did not even count the money. According to Hrushikesh, on the next day, he went back and returned the money to the family.
