“Avoid Eating Chicken for Few Days”, Advises Director Health Services as 19k Chickens Culled in Pipli for Bird Flu

Bhubaneswar: Avoid eating chicken for a few days now, advised the Director of Health Services Odisha Bijay Kumar Mohapatra on Monday, as he spoke about bird flu threat in the state in a press meet on Monday.

An advisory has been issued to the districts in Odisha relating to bird flu.

Meanwhile, the Rapid Response Teams of the Odisha Veterinary and Health department have culled more than 19,000 chickens in the Pipili area of Odisha’s Puri district since Saturday.

Surveillance and preventive measures are being taken to prevent spread of bird flu in other parts of the state.

Meanwhile, Odisha Health Director Bijay Mohapatra said, as it is a viral infection, the focus is on detection through surveillance.
