ATHLETE OF ODISHA “DUITEE CHAND”SELECTED FOR ARJUN AWARD AMONG WITH 27 OTHERS.

JAJPUR:Ace sprinter from Odisha, Dutee Chand Daughter of Jajpur will be honoured with the Arjuna Award. She is among the 27 sportspersons to be conferred with the prestigious award.
Noably, Sprinter Dutee belongs from Prathamakhandi village of Bari Constituency of Jajpur.Dutee Chand is the first women athlete from the country after PT Usha to represent India at summer Olympics in 100-meter race in Rio and She is the two times Asian Games silver medals winner .
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter and congratulated Dutee Chand on being recommended to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award. He said that Odisha is proud of her achievement.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also congratulated Dutee and said for her nomination to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award. He said that Dutee has made Odisha proud in the national and international level.
Towards her achievement Bari MLA Smt. Sunanda Das in a Special discussion with us has greeted and wished her .Add to her statement she said “Duitee” is the pride of our Bari who now reachedour district to the Country’sArjun Awards list as our odia,Jajpurian daughter.
Atanu Das (Archery), Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy (Badminton), cricketers Ishant Sharma and Deepti Sharma and shooter Manu Bhaker, among others, have also been named for the award.
The awardees will receive their awards from the President of India at a specially organised function through virtual mode from Rashtrapati Bhawan on August 29.
