ASHOK KUMAR SAHU 2ND INTER STATE MEMORIAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT AT RAYAGADA
Rayagada (Dr. Badal Tah): The Ashok Kumar Sahu 2nd Inter State Memorial Football Tournament 2025 was successfully completed at the GCD High School Ground drawing large crowds and showcasing exceptional football talent from across the region.
The tournament was organized by the Rayagada Town Football Team and mentored by Sidharth Sahu in fond memory of his late father Ashok Kumar Sahu, an ardent sports lover known for his lifelong passion and encouragement for local sports activities.
The four-day event was inaugurated by the Sahu Family along with Apala Swamy Kadraka, MLA, Rayagada. Other dignitaries present at the inaugural ceremony included Dr. Badal Kumar Tah, President, Zilla Sambadika Sangha, Rayagada; Rishi Sahu, elder son of late Ashok Kumar Sahu; and Daniel Tandi.
The final match witnessed a thrilling encounter between Laxmipur Football Club and Koraput Anna Club, with Laxmipur FC emerging as champion. Koraput Anna Club finished as runners-up after an intense and well-fought contest.
The valedictory function was graced by Anjali Sahu, wife of late Ashok Kumar Sahu, Sidharth Sahu, Samuel Tandi and Kaliram Majhi, National General Secretary, Adibasi Morcha, BJP, who presented the trophies and felicitated the players.
Individual awards were bagged by Tarun (Laxmipur FC) as Player of the Tournament and Manoj (Laxmipur FC) as Best Goalkeeper. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs. 20,000, while the runners-up were awarded Rs. 10,000.
