Arrest immediately before public hearing – Security Council

Koraput:A second public hearing on the Mali mountain mine is set to begin on November 22.  Earlier, the first public hearing on September 22 was unsuccessful, and police arrested 28 people in connection with the killings.  Hundreds of women marched from Kalaniketan Chowk on behalf of the Mali Mountain Protection Forum to demand their release before the second round of public hearings.  “The rescue squad wasn’t called for him,” she told the Associated Press.  There were protests in front of the district attorney’s office for some time.  Koraput Additional District Magistrate Rameshwar Pradhan accepted the petition filed by Manchar vice-president Das Khara and editor Abhi Sadapali.  He said he would discuss the issue with the district attorney’s office.
