Berhampur,12/08/23:The Anti-Ragging Day Celebration at Berhampur University, Bhanjabihar, held on August 12, 2023, was a significant event aimed at raising awareness and advocating against the menace of ragging in educational institutions.
The event saw the presence of esteemed guests, dignitaries, and representatives from various fields who shared their insights and perspectives on the importance of curbing ragging for the creation of a safe and healthy campus environment.
The Chief Guest for the occasion, Dr. Saravana Vivek M, Superintendent of Police (SP) Berhampur, emphasized that both the perpetrators of ragging and those who witness it but fail to report it are equally responsible for perpetuating the problem. He urged everyone to stand united in their efforts to eliminate ragging and create a society where such harmful practices have no place.
Prof. Susant Kumar Baral, the PG Council Chairman and Vice Chancellor Incharge, spoke about the significance of maintaining a positive campus environment and eradicating ragging to foster a conducive atmosphere for learning and personal growth.
Prof. Ganesh Sethi, Director of Student Welfare, emphasized the university’s commitment to student wellbeing and highlighted the importance of providing a nurturing and supportive environment that enables students to thrive academically and emotionally.
Sri Mohan Singari, Public Prosecutor, shed light on the legal aspects related to ragging in the context of Indian universities, underlining the need for stringent action against those found guilty of engaging in such activities.
Shri Dipti Kanta Pradhan, Deputy Superintendent of Police of the university, shared insights into the role of law enforcement in maintaining campus safety and ensuring that instances of ragging are effectively addressed.
Sri Sachidananda Naik, Registrar, discussed measures being taken to ensure student safety and prevent ragging, emphasizing the university’s commitment to providing a secure campus for newcomers.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Sankarshna Mallik, expressing gratitude to all the participants and contributors who made the event a success. The event was smoothly anchored by Sushmi from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC).
