Bhubaneswar,( 06/03/26):Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged BJP leaders and MLAs in Odisha to make concerted efforts at all levels to secure victory for the party’s fourth Rajya Sabha candidate.

During his visit to the state, Shah held discussions with party leaders at the BJP state office, emphasising the need to motivate MLAs for the upcoming polls.

Shah met with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, state president Manmohan Samal, deputy chief ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, as well as MLAs and MPs.

He conducted a special closed-door meeting with the state core committee, where he provided key guidance on various issues.

Sources revealed that Shah inquired about the state government’s functioning, organisational matters, and ongoing challenges, offering solutions and advice.

During his one-day visit to Odisha on Friday, Shah spent over an hour at the party office. He also shared Mahaprasad from Puri Srimandir (Shree Jagannath Temple) with all present leaders, fostering a sense of unity.

As the BJP’s strategy architect, Shah’s visit aligned with speculations that he would impart crucial advice on Rajya Sabha election tactics, which proved accurate. He shared tips on sustaining the BJP’s solo government in the state, advising MLAs to focus on public welfare and work enthusiastically to advance Odisha significantly.

Shah also discussed strategies to ensure victory for the BJP’s two official candidates and the supported independent candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections. He encouraged leaders to assess their positions and strive collectively for the trio’s success.

However, state President Manmohan Samal, responding to media queries, denied any discussion on the Rajya Sabha elections.

He stated that the Home Minister’s visit after a long gap covered various topics, including Odisha’s issues, government and organisational matters.

Samal added that the Chief Minister discussed multiple subjects with Shah, who sought details on the party’s organisational status in the state.

He clarified that no talks occurred on board or corporation appointments. On the fourth Rajya Sabha seat, Samal expressed full confidence, asserting that the BJP candidate would win 100% without doubt.

BJP MP Pradeep Purohit echoed similar sentiments, noting discussions on the Odisha government’s programs and ways to make it more people-oriented. Shah provided valuable advice for both the party organisation and government, emphasising that winning the trust of Odisha’s people could ensure the BJP’s rule for the next 25 years.

He confirmed Shah’s guidance on securing wins for the two BJP candidates and the supported independent.

Purohit further revealed that the party has decided to support expelled BJD MLA Dillip Ray as the independent candidate. Ray maintains personal ties with several BJD and Congress MLAs, which helped him win previously. Purohit confidently stated that some MLAs from these parties have already decided to vote for the BJP-supported candidate, ensuring his victory.

Shah’s visit underscores the BJP’s focus on strengthening its foothold in Odisha post its solo government formation, blending electoral strategy with governance priorities.
