Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations at NTPC Kaniha

TalcherLThe 131st Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R Ambedkar was celebrated at NTPC Kaniha on 14 April. Shri K Srinivasa Rao, Executive Director, NTPC Kaniha highlighted the contributions of the world renown leader and the architect of the Indian Constitution, whose importance and stature in the political sphere is now uncontested. Shri Vijay Goel, GM(O&M), Shri Rajendranath Das, GM(Project), Shri H.N. Chakraborty, GM(Maintenance), Shri Y M Muralikrishna, GM(Operation), Shri Prem Chand, GM(HR) and other senior NTPC officials, CISF personnel, members of unions, association and welfare bodies were also present to give a floral tribute to Dr. Ambedkar on the momentous occasion.The Chief Speaker Shri G. B. Mahanta enlightened the audience about the role of Ambedkar in India’s progress and his fight against social evils such as untouchability and inequalities based on caste. The Chief Speaker of the event was facilitated by Shri K S Rao.Further, a prize distribution ceremony was conducted for essay writing and drawing competitions conducted in various schools in and around the NTPC Kaniha township, by the SC-ST welfare association to celebrate Dr. Ambedkar’s Birth Anniversary. This was followed by a cultural event dedicated to pay tribute to Dr. Ambedkar.
