Alarnath temple to be developed for pilgrims, tourists, sevayats

PURI:The famous Alarnath temple at Brahmagiri, located 20 km from Puri, will be developed with proper facilities for pilgrims, tourists and sevayats.
Secretary to Chief Minister (5T) V K Pandian, who on Thursday visited Alarnath temple at the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, asked the officials to draw up a master plan for the development of the temple.
The master plan will be presented before the Chief Minister for approval, official sources said. Pandian, during his visit, took stock of the existing facilities for pilgrims at the temple site and held talks with the sevayats and locals on issues relating to the temple. Puri Collector Samarth Verma, officials of Works department and OBCC were present.
Lord Alarnath is famous as he is worshipped as representative of Lord Jagannath, especially during the 15-day Anavasar period of Mahaprabhu after Snana Jatra. The temple is also famous for the pilgrimage as saints like Ramanujacharya and Sri Chaitanya had visited and offered prayers to Lord Alarnath.
