Ajit Doval, PK Mishra Reappointed as NSA, Principal Secretary to PM Modi
New Delhi: Ajit Doval and PK Mishra have been reappointed to their key positions in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) with effect from June 10, 2024. Doval has been retained as the National Security Advisor (NSA), while Mishra will continue as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The appointments are “co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” the government announcement said. This implies that Doval and Mishra will remain in their respective roles as long as Modi is the Prime Minister, or until new orders are issued.
During their tenure, both officials will be assigned the rank of a cabinet minister in the table of precedence.
Additionally, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the reappointment of Amit Khare and Tarun Kapoor as advisors to the Prime Minister in the PMO for two years, effective June 10. They will hold the rank and scale of Secretary to the Government of India.
Ajit Doval, a former Intelligence Bureau director, has been pivotal in national security since 2014 and is highly trusted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Similarly, PK Mishra, an experienced Gujarat cadre IAS officer, assumed the role of Principal Secretary in 2019, following distinguished service including as Additional Principal Secretary.
