ADVANCED REHABILITATION CENTRE INAUGURATED IN SUNDERGARH: HELP FOR DIFFERENTLY ABLED PATIENTS

ROURKELA: Advanced Rehabilitation Centre, the first of its kind in Western Odisha was inaugurated in District Headquarter Hospital at Sundergarh by Niranjan Sahu, RDC, western Region in presence of Collector & DM, Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, Kusum Tete, MLA,Sundergarh,  Sarada Prasad Nayak, MLA, Rourkela, Emma Ekka, President Zilla Parishad, Sundergarh, Dr.Saroj Kumar Mishra, CDMO, Sundergarh and other officials.

This advanced centre is supported by District Mineral Foundation and in collaboration with Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Govt. of Odisha.

This service is rendered for everyone but will specially help the poor where there will be no charges and the prosthetic device services will be waived off for people whose income is less than Rs.4Lakh annually. Niranjan Sahu, RDC in his speech said that he is very happy by having this centre in place which will help patients who have met accident and have lost their limbs can regain  their rightful place in the society after getting cured from this place.

Sundergarh Collector in his address focused on how this centre will work and the ARC will offer an integrated Laboratory training and care facility for the differently abled. Goes on he said, this centre is having robotics physiotherapy and many imported machinery can help patients in getting advance treatment. This centre is having two departments like Robotic Assisted therapy and Artificial Limb Support. Robotic Assisted therapy consists of Robot gait trainer which aims at giving therapies to injuries of lower and upper extremities. The Artificial Limb Support will provide orthosis, prosthesis and appliances. The CAD/CAM system in the centre is capable of designing and manufacturing below knee, above knee and upper extremity prosthesis, spinal orthosis, knee orthosis, cranial moulding helmets and knee ankle foot orthosis.

All these services will be extended by trained professionals and will aim at giving benefits for those affected with trauma like stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, limb amputations, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, gait abnormalities, parkinson’s disease and other musculoskeletal disorders.
