Berhampur: During November, 2020 Lakshmi Kanta Mahapatro ordered for two nos of DEVZA Metal Portable Laptop table from a major Indian e-commerce company. Who earned name and fame as Flip kart and paid Rs.4098/-.

The order item was delivered to my residence in a very small box on dated.23/11/2020 and I only opened it when I got home. I was shocked to find that the Box is empty (!). On the same date he sent a message stating for return the empty box. But to everyone surprise the Company deny to accept and ended the transaction on dated.3rd Dec, 2021.

When on dated.25th Dec, 2020 he called the customer care Toll free Number of the e-commerce company, he was satisfied that the complaint was registered and the Customer Care executive said “We shall take care of your grievances in a sweet tone”.

Again Mr.Mahapatra made a second reminding call on dated. 30th Dec,2020 again on 6th Jan,2021  they said’ We are sorry you have not made your regular follow-ups of your of status and by now 72 Hours crossed we can’t entertained or registered your complaint (!),in final word they said we are not  resolving complaints.

Today this went on for one month and a half,” he says.

Mahapatro says that of all the consumer have rights under the Consumer Protection Act, ‘right to be informed’ is crucial in the context of e-commerce. As per this, details like weight, contents, Price  etc should be compulsorily displayed on products. “E-commerce companies have a greater responsibility to give detailed information as the consumer relies only on this description to make the purchase. The more information is as  always a Consumer is Blind  the seller should behave  properly to open the eyes of the buyers and it gives, the more reliable ,” he said. The same deals have now brought for others as example of such controversial business practice where a player offers massive attraction and publicity.

Today after number of requests Mr. Mahaptro said “I shall go to Court of Law under Consumer protection Act and shall fight to gain my natural justice.
