BERHAMPUR COPS’ ARRESTED BURGLARY BID IN JEWELLERY STORE

BERHAMPUR:The Berhampur Police arrested two accused who were allegedly  burglary  in two a jewellery store in Berhampur city. Two burglary cases where reported from Vinod Jewellery shop and Keshab Jewellery shop on 30/10/2020 and 17/12/2020 against Police case number 224/20, 259/20 respectively.

After persistent efforts by Berhampur Police the accused person were apprehended their involvement in both the case against the case No- 224 the Jewellery weighing 1400 grams in and case No- 259 jewellery weighing 424 grams cash Rs.1,40,000 where reportedly stolen. Both the accused identified as Lokesh Srivas,(29),village,Nayapada,and Lokesh Rao,(24),Bhilai, Chatisgarh.

Sunday noon, Pinak Mishra, SP, Berhampur briefed to scribe, against both the cases, experts police team was sent to Kabeerdham of Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Bada Bazar Police Prashant Bhupathi. The co-operation and with assistance of local police, the duo apprehended their involvement in both the cases. Police have recovered Cash Rs.12, 07,060/- the sale proceeds of the stolen ornaments gold ornaments weighing 168.06 grams, new Maruti (Ertiga), Car purchase from the sale proceeds, one portable cutter machine from their possession.

Describing the crime fashion Mishra said, both accuse persons met each other at Durg Jail in the month of March,2020,The accused Lokesh Rao has some link Berhampur as relatives are staying in city. Both accused chalked out plan to commit burglary in Jewellery shop and executed their plan. Both have criminal antecedents in the state of Chhattisgarh.

The accused persons were produced in court of CJM, Kawardha, Chatisgarh on 24/12/20 and brought on transit remand. They will be produced in the court of SDJM, Berhampur today.However, a police team is still available at Chhattisgarh and trying to recover the rest stolen properties
