PRESTIGIOUS GROW CARE INDIA GOLD AWARD TO ROURKELA STEEL PLANT, SAIL

ROURKELA: One thing many people like about Rourkela is its greenery all around and the maximum contribution is by Rourkela Steel Plant who has been very consistent in planting trees and making the periphery of the township clean and green. As a token of appreciation, Grow care Excellence Award was conferred to Rourkela Steel plant in Chandigarh in its 4th Annual function. This prestigious award is constituted in 2016 by a group of highly acclaimed group of professionals in the field of Environment, Safety and Occupational Health.
RSP has been very consistent in adopting state of the art energy efficient steel making technologies for environment Protection. During the last six decades it has been modernized its plant and the production capacity has increased to 4.5 sMTPA of Hot metal. To ensure compliance and protection of environment RSP established a full-fledged environmental Engineering department along with an Environment laboratory and adopted a full-fledged monitoring and control mechanism for accessing the Air quality and Water quality. It has also installed online monitoring systems for continuous monitoring of different air pollutants and water pollution and the same has been uplinked with the servers of State Pollution Control Board, Govt. of Odisha and Central Pollution Control Board, Govt. of India. As a result, pollutions have been reduced substantially. In addition to this it has also installed 1 MW Solar Power Plant inside the plant, Installation and commissioning of 40 KLD Solar Heating Systems in Ispat General Hospital, LED lighting system in place of traditional lighting system in township it as earlier. It has also created a massive carbon sink of 2168.28 Hectares out of total RSP area of 6527.48 Hectares by planting more than 50lakh trees. These efforts are praiseworthy and the award received by RSP is all deserving.
